La fundación Mozilla esta a punto de lanzar el Firefox OS para Smartphones. Mozilla que se distingue por intentar que la Web permanezca libre y en manos de los usuarios, ha elaborado este sistema operativo con la misma intención.
HTML5 para desarrollar apps y un núcleo Linux son algunas de las características destacadas de Firefox OS. Pero quizás la principal es que es totalmente software libre, incluso Android usa algunas partes de software propietario, además depende de una empresa con ánimo de lucro y políticas muy dudosas, como es Google.
Tras el desarrollo de Firefox se encuentran también empresas privadas como Telefónica, pero parece que aún así, se está respetando el espíritu del software libre (open source).
Estuvimos hace unos meses en una presentación para desarrolladores en la que Francisco Jordano nos aseguró que Firefox OS aunque con la intervención de Telefónica, iba a ser software libre 100%.
Es fácil pensar que la intervención de Telefónica en este proyecto es para sacar su propia gama de Smartphones sin depender de Google ni Android, o para hacerle la competencia a estos.Mozilla, the organization dedicated to keeping the power of the Web in people’s hands, today announced that the regional launches of Firefox OS smartphones will begin soon.
